Tia Jenkins
Vice President - Highland Park Community Garden
After moving to Houston in 2022, Tia found more than just a place to live—she found a true sense of belonging through The Highland Community Garden. What began as a way to connect with the community blossomed into sisterhood, purpose, and passion. Through hands-on experience in the garden, Tia discovered the joy of growing her own food and the confidence to nourish her family from seed to table. Her love for health, nutrition, and mindful eating shines through in the way she tends both the soil and the soul, and she’s passionate about guiding others to do the same. As Vice President of The Metallic Sunflower Foundation Hydro Board, Tia channels this energy into expanding sustainable agriculture initiatives, including her exciting new journey into microgreens growing—a hands-on step toward her lifelong vision of full self-sufficiency for her family and beyond. This same nurturing spirit extends to her profound passion for youth development, where her leadership bleeds through in inclusive garden programs that adapt tools and spaces for every young grower, fostering growth, joy, and belonging for all.
